What Florists Want Their Clients to Know | Guest Post with Kaitlynn Putnam of Sweet Afton Floral

Kaitlynn Putnam from Sweet Afton Floral has always been one of my absolute favorite florists! Her work is just as incredible as she is! So, I asked her to tell us a bit more about what florists want their clients to know. Keep scrolling to get the scoop! (and then go check her out over at https://www.sweetaftonfloral.com!)

YOU DON’T NEED TO KNOW EVERY DETAIL

Yes, you read that right! You really don’t need to know the exact details, numbers, or even arrangements you’ll need…the most important thing is to just get your florist booked for your wedding!

The details can come later!

Majority of my weddings have adjustments made up to a month before the wedding date. Changes happen and most of us florists are more than willing to be accommodating to those changes.

(as long as it's within a reasonable timeframe)

YOU’RE HIRING US FOR A REASON, WE’RE HERE TO HELP

We are here to help you through the entire process! You don't have to know everything (or anything) about flowers, that's what we are here for! Along with planning and designing for your event, we are also here to give you suggestions and help guide your decisions based on your style, preferences, and budget!

BOOK ASAP!

If you want your dream florist, book right away!

When possible, reach out to book your florist at least 3 months in advance to ensure you get your date!

For me I prefer 6+ months because I book out quickly. This also gives us florists more time to plan and prepare for your wedding!

DO YOU LIKE OUR STYLE?

Does our style of work speak to you?

Please only reach out for a meeting IF you are truly interested in our style of work. A LOT of effort is put into each consultation and it's never fun to go through all that work just to hear "we are shopping around for the best price."

There’s nothing wrong with budgeting and shopping around, but please do your research with each florist and be absolutely certain they are one of your top choices before reaching out. I include starting prices on my website for this exact reason! To help any potential clients determine if I am the right fit for them.

FLOWERS ARE EXPENSIVE….

Flowers are high cost, even before any markups from your florist are made…

This is just something you need to be prepared for and budget accordingly for. You don't need to have tons of flowers, but you do need to be prepared to pay what is needed for what you'd like.

It depends on what you need, but to give an idea most of my weddings average at about $1500-$2000 for wedding party flowers and some decoration items for the ceremony and/or reception.

WE CAN AND WILL GIVE IDEAS TO HELP YOU STICK WITHIN THE BUDGET YOU NEED

Despite high floral costs, there are often ways costs can be cut.

Most florists are more than willing to work with you on your budget (as long as it's reasonable) and provide suggestions to bring the cost to what you need it to be at.

You might need to be prepared to adjust or remove some items from your floral list, but we are more than happy to try to help get you what you’d like for the cost you need.
